The creator of Soup is helpful and always available (something I don't see with most mod authors), but it seems as though TecnoBacon is trying to plug leaks in a ship, and when one leak is plugged, water just springs from another hole. I like some of Soup's content, which is often based off of ideas that other mods have tried to add in to their game, like a decoder that takes money off stalkers that you kill (or from their PDAs, to be exact), but sometimes it can mean that a game becomes oversaturated, because for every good idea, there are plenty of ones that aren't so good, and I think that is in essence why Soup is so broken and unstable, because with more content is just more stuff to go wrong. The only line I edited in fsgame."S.T.A.L.K.E.R." Screenshot More Content = More Bugs If I remove the files, and leave just the gamedata folder, the game loads fine. There seems to be something about having the files in gamedata that causes the crash, even without changing the files. To test it, I'm trying to load the game without even making changes to those original files, and it still crashes. I then copied just the two files I needed into my steam game folder: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl\gamedata\config &. I used dbex_rel_en.exe to extract gamedata.db0 to a temp folder. Since other weight change mods were causing crashes I decided to extract the files myself and change them, in case it was a difference due to older file versions. Have you tried re-extracting the gamedata files Yes, and that's what I find odd. Have you tried changing the files encoding when saving? To what? Since I'm just editing the plain text ltx files I didn't think any encoding/filetype changes were needed? Since these are text files, there shouldn't be much to mess up if the values are in range.

I only edited the values for those specific entries, using Notepad++. Unknowingly altered other lines in the files: definitely not. I waited a while this time to see what it would do and it eventually crashed with "XR_3DA.exe has stopped working", but it didn't write anything to the xray_jon.log that I've seen it write to when trying previous mod versions (for 1.0005 or earlier). The game loads to the point of starting to load a savegame, and then hangs up on "Client: Synchronizing." while loading the save.
